Salt dough production technology
Increasing attention has recently been paid to the revival and propaganda various kinds folk-applied art of Russia.
It is no secret that from ancient times in Russia, bread was treated with great respect. How many holidays, rituals are dedicated to him. And the most important holiday among the peasants was dedicated to harvesting. For this occasion, they baked holiday loaves, pies, braids, kalachi and many other delicious masterpieces. culinary arts. They were masterpieces, because they were not only incredibly tasty, but also beautifully decorated with various patterns and figures. And the remaining flour, or, as it was called, estimates, was not thrown away (this was considered a great sin). Salt and water were added to it, and various figurines, amulets, totems were molded from this (inedible) dough. And this type of creativity was called in the old days - mucosol.
Over time, other ingredients were added to the salt dough recipe, but the main ingredients - salt, flour and water - remained unchanged.
For example, here are some recipes for making salt dough:
1. Flour and salt are taken in equal proportions 1:1 and ½ part of water. For example, 1 cup flour, 1 cup coarse table salt and half a glass warm water. All this is thoroughly kneaded for 10-15 minutes so that the dough becomes soft, like plasticine and at the same time does not stick to your hands. Then, for 3-4 hours, the finished mass is placed in a cool place for "stability".
2. Flour and salt are taken in equal proportions (1 glass of flour, 1 glass of fine salt), 1 tbsp. a spoonful of vegetable oil and half a glass of warm water with the addition of 2-3 drops of iodine. The mass is well kneaded and placed in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours.
3. The following method: 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of coarse salt and 1 cup of glue mass (100-150 ml of water and 2 tablespoons of wallpaper paste). Everything is thoroughly mixed.
4. Instead of wallpaper glue, you can use PVA glue: 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of salt and ½ cup of water with PVA glue (50 g of PVA glue for ½ cup of water). Everything is also thoroughly mixed until a homogeneous mass. Salt dough products can be left to dry completely naturally (in a warm place near the stove or battery, or in the sun), but this way the product will not be ready for further processing soon.
In another case, ready-made salt dough elements can be dried in an oven over low heat and at a temperature not exceeding 125 ° C.
As for the coloring of the finished product, there are several ways:
1. Food coloring is added to the dough in the process of kneading the dough (the disadvantage is that the colors are not too saturated).
2. Oil paints look very impressive and colorful (the disadvantage is that the paint dries for a long time on the product).
3. Gouache paints create a dense saturated layer (the disadvantage is that the paint can wear off if not covered with a transparent varnish).
While modeling, a teenager develops fine motor skills of his hands (and this also contributes to the development of speech). Modeling develops spatial thinking and imagination. Thanks to modeling, a child or teenager directly learns reality. In addition, while modeling from salt dough, the teenager works with environmentally friendly material.
When making products from salt dough, they use the same techniques and methods of working as with plasticine:
1. At the beginning of work, you need to take care of the workplace (the surface of the table should be covered with oilcloth or a piece of plexiglass), you must have several napkins (paper and cotton).
2. To work with the dough, you will also need a variety of tools: stacks (wooden, metal, wire), various molds, templates, etc.
3. Basic modeling techniques: rolling, rolling, flattening, pinching, pinching, pressing, bending the edge, etc.
From separately molded parts, you can create a whole composition. Composition is a process of creativity, the combination of individual details into an expressive picture.
When making paintings from salt dough, additional material can also be used: fabric patches, beads, beads, buttons, feathers, etc.
Working with salt dough gives children great satisfaction; they work with great interest with this "unusual" material, creating extraordinary, fabulous paintings.

Modeling ‒ great way development of fine motor skills in children. However, kids are very fond of tasting everything, so traditional modeling materials, like clay or plasticine, are often not suitable for classes. There is a great alternative - salt dough: it is very easy to sculpt from it, it is much softer and more pliable than the same plasticine, and at the same time, it is absolutely safe for the child.
Any product can be made from this material. Small children (from one and a half years old) can, under your guidance, try to create simple figurines from salt dough, and an older child - any crafts, souvenirs or toys that only imagination and skill are capable of.
How to make salt dough?
On top of all the benefits of this material for modeling, it is also very affordable, as it can be quickly made in your kitchen.
There are many recipes for making salt dough, so everyone has the opportunity to choose the most convenient and simple for themselves.
Here is one way:
- take a glass of salt (about 200 g), add 2 cups of flour, and dilute with water (more than half a glass), knead the dough;
- you will determine the degree of its readiness along the way: if the dough sticks to your hands and stretches too much, add a little more flour, and if it crumbles, then there is not enough water;
- try to roll the ball and make a few indentations in it ( ready dough it will keep its shape well, without blurring);
- when kneading, it is recommended to add a little (a tablespoon) of vegetable oil;
- for sculpting relief figures, add 2 tablespoons of starch;
- wrap the well-mixed mass with polyethylene and refrigerate for several hours;
- toys made from salt dough can be painted ready-made, or you can cook right away colored dough(make in several separate containers and add food coloring during kneading, instant coffee, beet or carrot juice, acrylic or gouache paints, etc.
You can watch special master classes if you are going to sculpt for the first time.
The goal of modeling classes for children should be to form an interest in this art, to familiarize themselves with all the properties and capabilities of the material: the dough can be torn, crushed, flattened, rolled, crumbled, dried. Teach your child to invent stories, make toys or figurines of acting characters for them, and combine them into whole large compositions. This will help you not only develop and improve the fine motor skills of children, but will also develop their imagination, imagination, and speech.
Making simple crafts with kids
Sculpt should be on a special board for modeling or a baking sheet. Also prepare a small rolling pin to roll out the dough, a brush (you will sometimes have to moisten the dough with water), stacks - sticks for working with plasticine or dough, other details, depending on the direction of your work (paints, molds, decorations, etc.).
If you are just starting to work with a small child, choose the simplest schemes and master classes so that it is easy and interesting for children to sculpt products.
First, you can do something by showing it to the child, then perform actions with his hand, and then let him try to create a toy from salt dough with his own hands.
Come up with a fairy tale about your character with your child. For example, it is very easy to make a cute little caterpillar or even her whole family, and then play with them.
- Show your child how to make a caterpillar: you need to pinch off small pieces from the dough and roll balls of different sizes from them.
- For the head of the product you will need a large ball, and for the body - a few smaller parts. The final look of the craft depends on how many balls you get, and what diameter they will be.
- Then you can connect all the balls together. To make the elements stick to each other better, moisten them with water at the junctions.
- The muzzle of the caterpillar can be drawn or molded, and the antennae can be made from cut matches.
- Now the product needs to be dried. Some prefer to do it naturally. This method will take you about 3-4 days. Also, figures from salt dough can be dried in the oven: if it was preheated to 55-80 ° C, then you will need to keep the product there on a baking sheet with parchment paper for about an hour, and if you put the figures in cold oven, then set the temperature to 150 ° C and, after drying a little, leave the crafts in the oven until it cools down.
- When the toy is dry, color it with your child. This can be done with gouache, acrylics or watercolors.
In the same way, other toys are created very simply - octopuses, a snake, cats, fish, birds, vegetables and fruits. You can cut blanks out of cardboard, and then circle them already on the test.
Also, for little children, a very simple master class on making figures from salt dough as Christmas tree decorations will be available.
- Prepare a few multi-colored pieces of dough.
- Roll them out well, and using a variety of cookie cutters, cut out the figures you need.
- Make holes in the figurines with a tube or stick so that they can then be hung by a thread or ribbon on a Christmas tree.
- If you make a lot of holes, then you will get real openwork figures.
- Products can also be decorated with beads (only with plastic it will not be possible to dry them in the oven), various cereals, buttons, shells, pieces of glass beads, etc. Sprinkle the finished toy with sparkles (on a layer of glue or varnish).
- Figures painted with permanent markers, or decorated with all kinds of stamps (for children's creativity, of any texture) also look very nice.
As a memorable home souvenir, you can make prints of the child's legs and hands, and on the back, sign how old the baby was.
Making more complex toys
There are master classes that show that you can create more complex toys, figurines, or even entire compositions with your own hands. For example, try with older children to make a cute hedgehog or the whole hedgehog family.
- Since you will be working on a 3D salt dough figurine, you will need some kind of ball to create the hedgehog's torso. You can take wooden, plastic or even foil, as long as it is very dense.
- Cover it well with dough so that there are no holes anywhere.
- The eyes and nose of the hedgehog can be made from dough or you can use any means at hand (for example, large peppercorns).
- With the help of nail scissors, form needles on the back of the hedgehog (make row after row in a checkerboard pattern).
- You can also make fruit that your forest dweller will carry on his back.
- Then you should dry the hedgehog and decorate it. Cover the product with clear nail polish so that the paint does not fade, but appearance figurines did not deteriorate over time.
In the same way, you can make a sheep, an owl, and any other voluminous toy.
Master classes will help you create even whole paintings from salt dough, which will become not only an excellent decoration for your home, but also a wonderful original souvenir for a gift. Pictures are best sculpted on fabric, foil or painted cardboard. When the craft is completely dry, paint it and varnish it.
An article for those who like to engage in creativity with a child. It contains recipes for salt dough for modeling and many ideas for crafts.
Modeling is a fun and useful activity at the same time. Making figurines, paintings, compositions from plastic material, the child develops imagination, logical thinking, fine motor skills, and learns perseverance.
Of course, a mother can simply buy plasticine or some branded mass for modeling for a baby. But how high quality and environmentally friendly these materials are? Alternatively, you can use salt dough made with my own hands from inexpensive natural products.
How to make dough for crafts?
Ecological cleanliness is not the only advantage of salt dough over plasticine or play-doh.
- The recipe according to which the plastic mass is prepared does not cause any difficulties for absolutely anyone. If a child asks to sculpt while in the country, for example, and there is no plasticine at hand, it will be possible to fulfill his desire in half an hour
- Modeling materials in the store are quite expensive. Salt dough ingredients are much cheaper
- Salt dough, even the one to which paints have been added, does not stain hands, does not stick to fingers. It is soft and pliable
- Dough crafts can be dried using a special technology. Then they will be stored for a long time and serve as a souvenir, Christmas tree toy, children's toy.
IMPORTANT: Even in ancient times, people mastered modeling from dough with salt. A whole art arose, which was called testoplasty. The women and children made very fine crafts, hand-painted them and used them as home decorations. Figurines, symbolizing various benefits, were considered expensive gifts, presented only to close people. Our ancestors did not “wrap up” with a salt dough recipe, making the material only from water, flour and salt.
Today, salt dough modeling, which has suddenly returned to popularity, is called bioceramics. The recipes for the dough itself are being improved. Unfortunately, some of them involve the use of wallpaper paste, synthetic paints, etc. The concept of absolute naturalness is lost.
There are three main components in the composition of salt dough for modeling. It:
Additionally widely used:
- gelatin
- starch
- vegetable oil
- natural dyes (beet juice, green beans, etc.)
- food colorings
- gouache or watercolor paints
- PVA glue
- wallpaper glue
Glue or starch makes the finished dried dough figures more durable, but it is not advisable to add them to the material that is intended for children under 5 years old. And dough with butter can be greasy and stain clothes.
IMPORTANT: You can color both the dough itself while it is being prepared, and the finished figure, then creativity will be more interesting and doubly useful
RECIPE #1. simple dough
Needed: wheat flour - 1 cup, extra salt - 1 cup, cold water - 0.5 cup
First of all, dry ingredients, flour and salt will be combined. If the dough will be colored with food coloring or paint, I dissolve them in water. Gradually adding colored water to the flour and salt, knead a rather steep dough, but such that it does not stick to your hands and does not crumble into crumbs.
IMPORTANT: To check if the mass is suitable for modeling, a smooth ball is rolled out of it, a hole is pressed through the middle of it with a finger. The dough should neither spread nor momentarily return shape. The edges of the recess must remain even.
RECIPE #2. dough with starch
You need: wheat flour - 0.5 cups, starch - 0.5 cups, extra salt - 1 cup, water - 0.5 cups.
Just as in the first case, flour, salt and starch are first mixed. Then gradually add pure or tinted cold water. The mass for modeling, which contains starch, becomes more elastic.
In addition to the most salty modeling dough, you need to cook:
- plank
- knives - stacks
- molds (such, for example, come with the play-doh test)
- beads, sequins, buttons, other improvised materials for decorating crafts
IMPORTANT: Flour and salt dough can be used several times in a row. To avoid it drying out, the material is placed in a plastic bag or wrapped in cling film, then closed in an airtight container and sent to the refrigerator.
How to dry dough crafts?
If the dough crafts are small, they will dry on their own. To prevent cracks from appearing on their surface, they are removed from direct sunlight.
You can also dry the figures from the dough in the oven with a minimum temperature and always with the door ajar. In the oven, the dough is dried for 3 - 6 hours, depending on the size of the craft. She goes to the oven three times for 1 - 2 hours, between each time there is a short break.
Making salt dough with children
For the first time, you can offer salt dough to a baby as early as the age of 1 year. This is not chemical plasticine or play-doh mass, the mother may not worry if the baby tastes the material or swallows it. For such small "home-made" dough is prepared without synthetic dyes.
IMPORTANT: Modeling dough is very salty. As a rule, it is enough for a child to lick it to understand that it is not edible. But if the baby still ate a piece, you just need to give him plenty of drink, and if mom is still worried, and a bag of Smecta
Full-fledged developmental modeling classes are possible with children from 2 years old. From rolling circles and balls out of salt dough, they will smoothly turn into real creativity, in which kids will be able to mold flowers, animals, favorite fairy-tale and cartoon characters, and more.
The final result of modeling from dough is as important for kids as the process itself. The finished craft causes them strong positive emotions.
Dough crafts for children in kindergarten
No need to think that salt dough is a “handicraft” material exclusively for homework. Kindergarten teachers have long taken note of the recipes for plastic material and are happy to replace plasticine with them in developmental classes with pupils.
So, in nurseries, casts of babies' hands, circles, mushrooms, "sausages", snails, etc. are often molded. In older groups, children are already poring over themed crafts, for example, for the holidays.
Dough crafts for kids. Step-by-step dough crafts
When sculpting from dough with kids, you don’t need to come up with ideas for crafts: usually, they are born by themselves at the moment when the fingers touch the plastic material. Children love to sculpt
- geometric figures
- flowers and trees
- fruits and vegetables
- animals
- dinosaurs
- little men
- fairy creatures
- cartoon characters
Adults, mastering testoplasty, can get ideas on the Internet, there are many step by step wizard classes.
IMPORTANT: Good manuals for both children and beginner adults are the books “Salt Dough Step by Step” by V. Khomenko and “Miracles from Salt Dough” by A. Firsova

Modeling is one of the most useful activities for kids. With its help, not only fine motor skills of the hands develop, but also perseverance, imaginative thinking and coordination of movements are developed.
One of the best materials for modeling with a child is salt dough. It is absolutely safe, does not contain harmful additives and easy to work. DIY salt dough crafts will be wonderful souvenirs for your relatives and friends.
Salt dough recipes are plentiful. Each master makes his own additives in them, choosing the right consistency. The main products for kneading dough are salt, flour and water.
Depending on the purpose, its density may be different:
- dense dough - for large parts and creating massive panels;
- universal dough of medium consistency - it is convenient to make small pictures and figures from it;
- soft dough- gentle and supple, it is suitable for small elements, exquisite flowers and figurines.
Some needlewomen measure ingredients in grams, others prefer to use proportions in parts.
dense dough
For work you will need:
- wheat flour - 1 part;
- food salt - 1 part;
- water - 0.7 parts.
That is, to knead this type of dough, you need to take one identical measure (glass, cup, tablespoon) of salt and flour and 0.7 of the same measure of water.
In a deep bowl, combine the dry ingredients and gradually add cold water. The dough should be homogeneous and very dense. There will be grains of salt in it - this is normal, do not worry. Depending on the moisture and quality of the flour and salt, a little more or less water may be needed. Therefore, you can not pour it into the dough all at once.
Medium consistency dough (universal)
For work you will need:
- wheat flour - 1 part;
- water - 1 part;
- food salt - ½ part;
- finely ground salt (extra) - ½ part.
By replacing half of the coarse salt with fine salt, this type of dough is more plastic and pliable. From such an obedient mass it is convenient to sculpt even a child. But for the smallest details and realistic crafts, such a dough is also not suitable.
soft dough
For work you will need:
- wheat flour - 1 part;
- hot water - 1/4 part;
- finely ground salt (extra) - 1 part;
- PVA glue - ¾ parts.
Combine salt with flour, then add thick PVA glue and mix. little by little pouring in hot water knead soft dough. It must be wrapped in cling film, allowed to rest and cool.
This dough is ideal for complex work. It perfectly holds its shape, retaining prints and the texture created on it. Its quality directly depends on the quality of the selected adhesive.
Figures molded from salt dough with glue are different special strength. They will please their owner for more than one year.
- If you plan to paint finished products, it is better to take wheat flour, although rye can also be used for salt dough.
- Can't take iodized salt- Finished figurines may crack when dried.
- The dough can be tinted during kneading. For this, food coloring or watercolor is used.
- The finished dough must be wrapped in cling film or a plastic bag to prevent it from drying out.
- A failed dough can be reanimated. In a watery, you need to add a little more flour and knead again, too tight dough moisten with water and knead, achieving the desired consistency.
- Do not add grease or hand cream to the dough to be dyed, as the paint will not adhere evenly.
- The finished dough should be stored in the refrigerator for no more than 2 days. It loses its qualities and it will be inconvenient to work with it.
- Volumetric products are best sculpted on wire or cardboard frames so that they do not fall apart.
- Crafts can be dried naturally by leaving them for a couple of days, baked in a warm oven, or left next to the radiator. It is categorically not recommended to put figurines on the battery itself to avoid cracking them.
- It is best to paint crafts with acrylic paint or gouache. Watercolor should not be used: there is a risk of soaking and spoiling the product.
- The junction of the parts must be moistened with water using a brush. So they are firmly and quickly connected.
- The finished souvenir can be covered with colorless nail polish or acrylic varnish. This will protect it from moisture and the paint from fading.
Armed with new knowledge, try to put it into practice.

Original souvenir - funny dachshund
You can start preparing for the upcoming New Year holidays in advance and make a funny dachshund as a gift to your friends.
For work you will need:
- salt dough universal (see recipe above);
- cardboard, a simple pencil, scissors;
- paints and brush;
- a piece of rope;
- clear nail polish;
- toothpick;
- foam sponge;
- glue "Dragon".
Prepare a drawing of a dachshund. You can sketch by hand or print on a printer. Cut out the outline of the dog.
Transfer the template to a sheet of cardboard and cut.
Roll out the dough to about 5mm thick on baking paper. Attach the pattern and cut out the outline of the dachshund along it. Carefully remove the trim so as not to deform the workpiece.
Roll up two balls and form oblong dachshund eyes out of them. Glue them on a drop of water to the head of the workpiece. Moisten all sections of the dog with water and smooth with your fingers to remove any bumps.
From two small pieces of dough, make eyelids and glue them over the eyes. With a toothpick, outline the ear, paws, mouth, nose and body contours.

It's time to dry the workpiece in a warm oven. Bake it until it is completely firm.
A dry figure needs to be painted. Cover with black gouache all areas where there are bulges and dents.
After the first coat of paint has dried, paint the dachshund yellow. Put some paint on the foam sponge and toned the whole body, while the dents should remain black - do not overdo it.
Draw white eyes on the dried dachshund. Make any inscription you want.
Glue a piece of string to the back of the craft.

On baking paper or foil, roll out the salt dough into a layer 3-4 mm thick. Cut out a circle using a special cutting or just a round glass of a suitable diameter.
Squeeze the dough on one side of the circle with two fingers, forming a ponytail.
Correct it and smooth out the bumps.
On the opposite side, make the mouth of the fish with the handle of the brush.
With the edge of a ruler or the blunt side of a knife, push the prints on the tail and fins.
Roll up small balls and glue them on the head of the fish. These will be the eyes.
From smaller balls, make pupils and press them to the eyes with the handle of the brush.
It's time to decorate the workpiece. Push the first row of scales with the cap of a felt-tip pen.
Roll up many small balls. Glue them on a drop of water to the body of the fish just behind the prints of the cap and flatten with the back of the brush.
If there is a suitable print, make prints in the shape of a starfish, if not, get by with a familiar cap or take another template.
Then push two more rows of cap prints.
Roll up a thin sausage to decorate the ponytail.
Glue it to the workpiece on the edge of the tail. Fill in the entire tail in the same way.
Dry the resulting workpiece in a warm oven.
Color the fish according to your idea of beauty and the colors available. If you stick a magnet on the back of it, it will proudly take its place on the refrigerator, decorating the kitchen of its lucky owner.

Salt dough has been popular for a long time. Today, the creativity associated with salt dough is less popular, simply because few people know about it. proper preparation, the ease of working with the material, and what wonderful products are obtained as a result. When dried, salt dough is very strong and you can admire figures from salt dough for several years.
Modeling from salt dough is called bioceramics. The components used for kneading the dough are harmless, they can be easily found in any kitchen. Salt dough is used to create such products as: paintings, toys in the form of animals, panels, flowers, numbers, and much more that you can think of. In addition to dough, home-made or household trifles serve as tools for creativity: toothpicks, disposable forks and spoons, cling film and foil, cookie cutters, buttons, various prints.
We all know that salt dough modeling is used to develop fine motor skills in babies. Kids like creativity with delicate dough, and mothers master modeling, making intricate crafts.
Salt dough in its properties resembles ordinary plasticine. The dough is very plastic. You can sculpt figures immediately with colored dough, or decorate products after drying.
Salt dough making
There are not many recipes for kneading salt dough. The basis for all recipes is the same, it is salt, water and flour. For elasticity and maintaining the shape of the figure after drying the dough, it can be added vegetable oil or glue. Here is a basic recipe for making salt dough.
Recipe one. Ingredients:
- fine salt(regular food) - 1 cup;
- Flour - 1 cup;
- Water - 125 ml;
- Vegetable oil - 5 tablespoons.
Pour salt and flour into a shallow container, add water and vegetable oil. Add water gradually to keep track of the viscosity of the dough. Mix well. The mass should be packed in a film and put in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. The mass for modeling is ready. If desired, you can add food coloring directly to the mass, while kneading. This will result in a dough of a certain color. Or divide the half-finished mass into parts and add different dyes. This will give you a lot of different colors. Synthetic dyes, gouache, or juice and cocoa can also be used for color. If the figures are embossed, then starch will also support their shape. Advice! If there are small details in the craft, then add a little glue when making the dough. It will maintain elasticity, better keeps the shape of the parts. The dough tends to fade after drying, so do not spare dyes when kneading the dough.
How to dry salt dough
Made crafts should be dried to fix the shape. Dry the dough in two ways:
- the product will dry at room temperature for 3 - 4 days, possibly more, it depends on the thickness of the parts and dimensions.
- figurines are fired in the oven. They are placed on a baking sheet parchment paper and put in a preheated oven. In this case, only the surface of the figure should not be burned. Therefore, the lowest oven temperature is quite suitable. Leave the figurines for 30 - 40 minutes.
To understand that the figure has strengthened, you can change the color of the dough from white to light brown. Keep an eye on the drying of the dough, the dry one will change color to dark brown.
What colors are suitable for the test
The process of modeling funny toys captivates and occupies children. The process of coloring toys takes no less time. However, salt dough is finicky in choosing paint. Watercolor on it looks pale or dull, and is constantly absorbed into the dough, no matter how much you tint. Gouache is much thicker and brighter than watercolors, but it dries for a long time, and remains wherever you worked with a brush: on a figure, table, hands, and also on clothes. Gouache is suitable when kneading the dough, if you want to add color.
Acrylic paints or pastes are perfect. In addition, the painted figurines are varnished for a longer preservation of the shade of color and durability. This will protect the figurine from fading.
Salt dough examples
What can be done with salt dough? A good imagination and creativity will help you come up with unusual figures. Children really like modeling animal figurines from salt dough. Creative people like souvenirs on magnets and threads, panels and framed paintings. Basically, the figures consist of circles, balls and sausages. Below we consider several different examples of work, a flat craft made from salt dough, and a voluminous figurine.
Souvenir: Dachshund on a string: "For good luck."
Naughty dachshund, a great souvenir for the soul or decorating the room. For work we need:
- Salty dough;
- Sponge or piece of foam rubber;
- Rope or twine;
- Glue, scissors, cardboard, pencil;
- Toothpick;
- Paints, brush;
- Clear lacquer (you can use clear lacquer spray).
Work should begin with the formation of the image of our dog - dachshund. Ours should look like a cheerful dog, with kind big eyes. Her image can be immediately depicted on cardboard, or printed out on a printer and transferred to cardboard. We have a dachshund pattern. Next, roll out the dough with a layer of about 5 mm. The area of \u200b\u200bthe rolled out dough should correspond to the size of the selected dog. We attach a sketch and cut out the dough. You can cut with an ordinary kitchen knife to the outline of the pattern, or circle the pattern and cut out the silhouette of the dog with a clerical knife. Trimmings can be removed.
Next, roll two balls of the same size. We give them a slightly oblong shape, these will be the eyes of the dachshund. They should be placed on the dog's head close to the forehead, next to each other. As if the dog is looking out from under the forehead. To attach the elements of the test to each other, you should moisten the sides or places where the elements will be connected. This will better hold the parts together. If you suddenly get bumps, they can also be smoothed out with a damp sponge.
Let's make the rest of the elements. Roll up two sausages, these will become the eyelids of the dog. Place them over your eyes. The extreme corners of the eyelids should be slightly lowered along the contour of the eyes. Using a toothpick and a template, shape the dog's ear, mouth and nose, and paws.
To make the workpiece more voluminous, roll an oval from a piece of dough, slightly smaller than the size of the ear, put it in place of the ear and smooth out the edges and irregularities of the connected elements with wet fingers. The same technique can be applied to the tail or back of the figure. Walk around the entire perimeter of the workpiece with a toothpick, pressing down on the dough, making shallow dents that look like wool.
Salt dough figurine is ready. Now it should be dried. Do it better in the oven.
You can start coloring. We begin to paint over the dry and cooled workpiece with black paint in the areas where dents were made. Paint over exactly the dents, as this is the future coat of the dog. Let's wait until the paint dries. Now we take a foam rubber sponge and paint, which will be responsible for the main color of the coat, for example, beige or light brown paint. Using a sponge, we apply paint over the entire workpiece, except for the eyes, and, trying not to put pressure on the dents, where it is painted over in black. Let's wait for the paint to dry again.
White color should be painted over the eyes. You also need to draw black pupils, the tip of the nose. Write a beautiful inscription on the tummy: "Good luck!".
When everything is dry. On the reverse side of the figurine, glue a rope or twine with glue. You can use a glue gun. Ready product coat with varnish and let dry. Our souvenir is ready: A dog - a dachshund on a string with the inscription: "For good luck!" - ready.
Craft: Cheerful mushroom - boletus.
This is a more difficult job compared to sculpting flat toys from balloons and sausages. For crafts you will need:
- Salty dough;
- Classic round light bulb (burnt out);
- Cardboard;
- Foil;
- masking tape;
- Glue, paper napkins;
- Paint or gouache.
A light bulb will be used at the base of the mushroom leg. Tape the lamp you prepared in advance with masking tape. Then cover with dough. The dough should dry out.
We're making a hat. From cardboard cut out a circle, approximately the diameter of the base of the mushroom cap. In the center of the workpiece, he makes a hole where the lamp base will be placed, while the cardboard should not sit very low on the cooked mushroom leg. On the basis obtained, we prepare the mushroom cap itself. To do this, we need to crumple the amount of paper napkins we need, and place them on cardboard. You can also fix them with masking tape or glue. Take a small piece of foil. We put hats on the workpiece, and give it a shape like a mushroom. The foil serves as a protective shell for the strength of the structure against bursting. We strengthen it to the very notch under the leg.
We put the dough on the blank of the hat. You can immediately make colored dough, the color of the cap, for example, dark brown, or orange like a boletus. We roll out the dough with a layer of 3 mm, put it on top of the mushroom cap. We sculpt white dough on the bottom of the hat. For the credibility of our hat, you can push through the back of the knife, or with a toothpick, strips on the white dough of the hat. Dry the hat.
Now you should connect the leg of the mushroom and the hat. You can fix it with super glue, Moment glue, glue gun. Note! The hat should be slightly tilted towards the back of the mushroom.
It remains to “revive” the craft a little by attaching arms, legs, and a spout to it. We roll these elements in their dough, in the usual forms: balls for the legs, ovals for the handles, a ball for the nose. With a toothpick, you can make small dents on the handles in the form of fingers.
You can decorate the mushroom figurine with a cheerful caterpillar on the hat. It is easy to roll it from small balls of dough. Try it on the mushroom cap, giving the shape of the future location. And dry separately in the oven. The caterpillar should also be painted separately. You can attach to the selected place with glue.
Using paint, it remains to draw the eyes, mouth, outline the nose. The finished product can be varnished for greater safety and fixation. We got a craft funny mushroom - boletus.
